What the dealership near you does

A franchised dealer sells and services one or a few brands from its own inventory. You negotiate with that one store, usually in person, and compare other stores yourself.

What an auto broker does

A licensed broker asks several dealers for written numbers on the car you want, compares them line by line, and arranges the purchase or lease with the dealer that has the best real offer. You still get a new car sold by a franchised dealer, with the normal warranty.

When each makes sense
